Hunter Douglas Window Fashions announced Friday they would discontinue association with online retailers as of June 1, 2010. All we’ve been hearing about lately is the growth of online shopping. With this move Hunter Douglas has said, ‘Even if it hurts sales, we’ll control our brand, our standards and customer satisfaction.’ They have embraced the expertise of their extensive dealer network and in particular their top-tier Window Fashions Gallery dealers who have invested tens of thousands of dollars in fixtures, training and product knowledge. These brand loyal aligned dealers of Hunter Douglas should benefit as a result of this policy change.” On March 11, 2010, Hunter Douglas reported 2009 US sales of nearly billion in window coverings and architectural products. Hunter Douglas never permitted sales through the Internet or 800 number channels of the Silhouette®, NantucketTM Vignette®, Luminette®, Pirouette®, Duette® ArchitellaTM and Alustra® Collection product lines since their introductions over the past 19 years, now this means none of their premium Hunter Douglas brand will be sold online. “To ensure that a consumer’s experience in shopping for and owning Hunter Douglas brand products is thoroughly satisfactory, the Hunter Douglas brand will now be available through professionally trained retail dealers, who work with each of their clients to determine the best custom solution, provide expert home measuring and installation services, and provide post- sales support when needed.” “This means they can more consistently deliver an exceptional experience from manufacturing their products to installing them in their customers’ homes. Other manufacturers need to look at this because their brands can be commoditized and weakened online.” In an email President & CEO North American Operations Marv Hopkins said in part, “We have made the decision to cease sales of all Hunter Douglas brand products through the large and growing Internet sales channel, effective June 1, 2010. By discontinuing Internet sales, Hunter Douglas will lose significant sales volume in the near term. We are confident, however, that this policy will best serve our goal of preserving and enhancing our brand image and reputation and will also lead to far greater sales through our Aligned Dealer network over the long term.”

Well I guess Hunter Douglas thinks nobody except for there dealers can measure/install there products...I guess there loss is our gain...Happy Shopping
